Production and
quality assurance
High-quality products are the result of combining tested, high-grade raw materials with efficient suppliers, mature manufacturing techniques and, last but not least, highly motivated and well-trained staff. Before the products are released to end consumers, they pass through a number of quality assurance stations.
All raw materials used undergo a suitability test carried out by Quality Assurance prior to use. Every means of production is subjected to documented goods inward inspection. Computerised mixing units blend the finished products according to specified formulas. Modern packaging machines provide every package with a production code for 100% traceability to individual facilities and batches. Having the quantity per pack checked by trained staff according to EN 12580 for every production lot is just as normal as the quality checks carried out by visual inspection and measurements in the company’s own lab. This includes, for instance, measurement of pH values and salt content (conductivity) of the soils in each batch. In addition to having goods tested by recognised external labs, regular quality monitoring is carried out by the "Gütegemeinschaft Substrate für Pflanzen e.V." (Quality Assurance Association Growing Media for Plant Cultivation). Samples are continuously taken from the products to check their nutrient content (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium), pH value, salt content, as well as growth inhibitor and weed contamination content.
A major part of the products bear the RAL quality mark for potting soils on their packages. Yet another proof that product quality is a top priority.
